A New Approach to Picky Eating

Nutrition + Feeding Therapy, Together

A 10-week program for toddlers and preschoolers ages 2–5 designed to help expand your child’s food variety, support their nutritional needs, and make mealtimes feel more manageable.

Picky eating is about more than what a child will—or won’t—eat.

Sensory differences, feeding skills, GI symptoms, development, medical needs, past experiences with food, and family dynamics can all play a role.

That’s why we look at the whole child.

What If Mealtimes Could Feel Different?

The goal isn’t to make your child eat everything.
It’s to help your child become a more confident, capable, and flexible eater while getting the nutrition they need to grow and thrive.

Together, we’ll work toward:
– Expanding food variety
– Building comfort and confidence with food
– Developing feeding skills
– Supporting age-appropriate nutritional needs
– Creating more positive mealtime experiences
– Helping you feel confident about what to do at home

Real progress happens beyond the therapy session.

That’s why The Mealtime Shift gives you the education, practice, and support to keep moving forward between visits.

What Makes The Mealtime Shift Different?

Families often receive nutrition care OR feeding therapy.

But picky eating often needs both.

Nutrition counseling can help identify what your child needs nutritionally—but there may not be enough time to work on the feeding skills and food experiences needed to get there.

Feeding therapy can build those skills—but nutrition education and nutritional assessment may not be part of the same care plan.

The Mealtime Shift brings them together.

OUR APPROACH

We look at the whole child – because the solution has to fit the whole family.

As a Certified Integrative Pediatric Dietitian, Kristen looks at the whole child — medical history, growth and development, feeding skills, GI health, sensory processing, lifestyle and routines, family dynamics, sleep and stress, and your family’s own goals and values.

Every recommendation has to fit into your real life.

Our approach is evidence-based, compassionate, and personalized.

60-minute feeding therapy sessions

More Time. More Support. More Opportunity for Change.

Traditional feeding therapy sessions are often 30 minutes. The Mealtime Shift gives us a full hour to observe, practice, teach, and adjust.

And support doesn’t stop when you leave.

You’ll also receive:

– Weekly parent education

– Food play and feeding practice

– An individualized nutrition plan

– Guidance for brining strategies into everyday meals

Because what happens between sessions matters just as much as what happens during them.

THIS IS WHAT PROGRESS CAN LOOK LIKE

“He went from a picky eater to a much more confident and adventurous one!”

We highly recommend Kristen Smaldone Nutrition to any parent whose toddler mealtimes have become a struggle. Before working with Kristen, mealtimes were stressful, and I was making several different meals every day just to get my three year-old to eat.
Kristen completely changed our perspective. She made mealtimes fun for my son, letting him play with new foods and textures. That exposure, along with her fresh approach, made every eating opportunity of the day more enjoyable and successful. He went from a picky eater to a much more confident and adventurous one!
Kristen sat with us weekly, observing our mealtimes and offering helpful tools, strategies and food ideas. My son now eats more, and his nutrition and appetite have improved.
Kristen is friendly, fun and determined to help every family overcome their mealtime challenges.
